| A California native, Dave Silverbrand graduated with a BA in Radio-Television Journalism from San Jose State University. He also has a Master's Degree in English from Humboldt State University.
He has been in broadcast news for 35 years, beginning at a Connecticut radio station. He spent 20 years in the Northeast in broadcasting before settling in Humboldt County. He is General Manager of CBS 6, part of the Eureka Television Group. He also teaches Journalism at College of the Redwoods.
He lives in Eureka with his wife, Nina, their two children, a dog named Fiona and a cat named Amadeus.
He has organized Cleats for Kids, a campaign to collect equipment for poor kids in Latin America. In the past three years, he has been instrumental in sending 3000 pounds of baseball equipment to a small community in the Dominican Republic. Over the Holidays, he also took equipment to Cuba. He has just begun another equipment drive for the Dominican children.
This year, he is concentrating his efforts on baseball gloves, jerseys and pants. | |
