Dr. Kevin Muchiri played a pivotal role in so many STEM students graduating from ODU including myself. If it wasn’t for Dr. Muchiri I wouldn’t have even continued being in the engineering program. I did horrible in taking the math placement when I first came to ODU in 2017 and I had no confidence in becoming an engineer until Dr. Muchiri sat with me in the testing room. He then convinced me to continue the program up to the point where now I graduated from ODU in the spring of 2022 with a Computer Engineering degree and two minors in computer science and criminal justice. He has not only touched my life but so many others. He has helped students with financial aid issues such as still having a balance and gaining scholarships to clear their balance for the school year. He has provided guidance for students on what classes to take and when to take them. He has assisted students in finding jobs and internships when they needed them the most. I could keep going on about the numerous things that Dr. Kevin Muchiri has done for his students and just any student he happens to meet. His personal and character has always stayed positive and yearning to help people in need. He not only an advisor but a friend and father figure to anyone who try’s help. I hope that our engineering administration is able to create an environment where Dr. Kevin Muchiri is able to operate doing what he loves with a piece of mind and no complications.
