Through time and time again, Dr. Kevin Muchiri has shown love beyond that of a father, wisdom beyond a professor, and friendship more pure than the heart of a child. Dr. Muchiri saved me from my own perils as a first generation immigrant student and showed a constant dedication in never letting me slip from his grasp. His care, attention, and guidance not only propelled me to the Dean’s List multiple times during my college career which culminated in graduating with Cum Laude honors, but grew me both as a man and a civil servant. Dr. Muchiri has the blessed gift of reaching your heart when no one else can, and for that he is more precious than gemstones. His impact in the lives of myself, my fellow members of The SUMMIT, and the hundreds of other young men and women that have been so blessed to make his acquaintance have been forever changed for the better. I would not be the man I am today without the tutelage of Dr. Muchiri, and his presence in the lives of other students will be deeply missed if his worth is not understated. Dr. Muchiri exemplifies the values and commitment that Old Dominion has to its students and staff in the highest order, and through his many interactions on campus he has honored the Monarch name and worn it with pride. For his many years of service and life changing moments in ever corner of this campus, he has established a culture of camaraderie, happiness, and openness with his students, and seals it all with his jovial attitude and bright smile. I looked forward to just seeing his face during the day because I knew I had someone in my corner that was dedicated to my success. As a student, that is all I could ever ask for. I speak for my fellow Monarchs when I say that Dr. Kevin Muchiri is a precious part of our campus and his continued stay at Old Dominion University would be greatly celebrated by the masses.
